With a cozy atmosphere, friendly staff, and tantalizing menu offerings, Leo's Beanery serves as the perfect backdrop for your morning ritual or a leisurely lunch break.
As a lover of breakfast, I was particularly impressed by their array of options, from scrumptious muffins to the much-talked-about baked French toast and the vibrant avocado toast. Each dish not only showcases fresh ingredients but also culinary creativity that elevates your dining experience. Customer reviews reflect this sentiment well; S. Hassan described the flat white as nearly emotional, which is a testament to the expert brewing skills of the baristas. Their comprehensive coffee menu, featuring everything from double espressos to iced coffees, guarantees that every sip is a moment to savor.
But it's not just coffee that sets Leo's Beanery apart. The atmosphere welcomes you like an old friend, with many patrons noting the warmth and attentiveness of the staff. Dana Field praised the butternut and coconut soup and the pulled lamb flatbread, raving about the patience of the team while her husband explored how to recreate his favorite meal at home. It’s the kind of place that fosters human connection through food, and the glowing feedback about their homemade raspberry and almond cake further proves this is a must-visit!
What truly adds charm to Leo’s is the attention it pays to dietary preferences. With various gluten-free and dairy-free options, there’s something here for everyone. Customers like Penny P. enjoyed the flavourful carrot and cumin soup alongside a satisfying sandwich, reveling in the comforting atmosphere that embraces you as soon as you step through the door. It's that kind of warm comfort that invites you to linger just a little longer.
If you’re in search of a hidden gem in Edinburgh, Leo's Beanery invites you to experience a delightful blend of fantastic food, enticing beverages, and a cozy ambiance. Whether you're looking for the perfect coffee to start your day or a quiet spot to escape the rain, this café promises to be a rewarding escape. “ Leo’s Beanery is the kind of place that makes you believe in mornings again. Tucked away like a secret worth keeping, it serves coffee so good it could probably fix your love life. The staff are warm, the vibe is cozy, and the flat white nearly made me emotional. If I lived closer, I’d probably set up a tent outside and call it a lifestyle choice. ”
“ What a find. Such amazing food for such a tiny little hidden gem. Butternut and coconut soup was amazing and my husbands pulled lamb flatbread was his best meal he’s had in a very long time. Thanks very much for the staff for being so patient while he grilled you on how to replicate. Not forgetting the gluten free raspberry and almond cake which went down a treat a lot earlier than expected. Lovely staff and great service. Highly recommended. ”
“ A great little stop for a wonderful coffee or to just miss the rain! We got there half an hour before shutting visiting Edinburgh and the staff were more than happy to serve us. Lovely people, cosy atmosphere. Would visit again ”
“ I initially was recommended a “small family-run” cafe to visit, but without a name, I was left guessing which of the hundreds of cafe in Edinburgh it was. Regardless, I went in out of curiosity. Upon walking down the stairs and entering the venue, a warmth of comfort engulfed me. Both from the atmosphere and the people serving. For the two times I was there, I got a dish and a drink. The homemade hot chocolate was definitely the one that stood out the most. Just absolutely rich in flavour. Their carrot and cumin soup was also splendid alongside their bread. Definitely a can’t miss when it’s the soup of the day alongside one of the sandwiches. Definitely a lot of variety of dishes and I appreciate the dietary customisation options such as gluten-free and diary-free alternatives. Decent variety of vegetarian options. I did take notice that a lot of options had avocados. I guess that’s a pretty popular ingredient. ”
“ such a cute place! the staff was super nice and friendly and the place had a great, calm atmosphere. the coffee was amazing, the cakes we had too, and for a fair price. i totally recommend to visit if you are nearby! ”
“ This place is pure bliss! The employees are so kind, the food and coffee are good, the atmosphere is so peaceful and sweet. One of my favourites in Edinburgh and Stockbridge! No matter how busy they are - they are ALWAYS kind and calm. And they do get VERY busy! But somehow it always feels peaceful. I would definitely recommend. Love this place! ”
“ A small cozy place with absolutely friendly staff. I came in with my kids and they accommodated their food needs perfectly. A lot of options for people with food restrictions. We got the avocado toast, the muffins spinach and the porridge I loved every single bite of everything and I highly recommend having breakfast here ”
“ We were passing this cute little cafe by chance and immediately stopped to take a look inside because it looked so nice and inviting. We sat down at a seat by the window and the very nice waitress came quickly to us to take our order. We had a coffee and a tea (which was brewed with fresh ingredients inside a little pot) and also tried a slice of the coconut bread (which came toasted and with butter on the side). It was so good!!! The cafe looks very tiny at first but there are more seats further in the back of the cafe and you can also sit outside by the street. We enjoyed or short break at the cafe very much and would love to come back on our next trip to Edinburgh! ”
